HALF FULL/ long past
A Pas De Deux is a ‘step of two’ exhibition that has become a signature of Saint Cloche Gallery.
HALF FULL / LONG PAST, the long-distance iterations of the everyday experience by Hayley A. West and Sophie Sachs.
Hayley A. West’s ceramic collections give expression to the dialogue between the subconscious and the outward gestures in the practice of daily life in a search for meaning and purposefulness.
Objects as collages and ceramic translations of human experience. They’re abstract experiences. Curiosity about the idea that we are antennas or receivers of information, or snippets of conversations, television shows, books, or poetry, but also messages from beyond. From unborn ancestors or future / past versions of ourselves.
All of that experience and information distilled, distorted, channelled and translated into these ceramic objects. Titled with clues to their story, lost lines of poetry waiting to be reassembled.
I often wonder if people collect these groupings of objects along with their titles and over time make their own ceramic collages and reassemble the titles into poetry.
